Dear University College students, faculty, and staff,
Earlier this week, eight people were killed in three shootings in Atlanta and the surrounding area. Six of the victims were women of Asian descent. I want to express my own anger and sadness about this incident, particularly as it builds on a pattern of Anti-Asian rhetoric and violence across the United States.
University College aspires to be a diverse and inclusive place, supportive of students from all backgrounds and geographies. We will continue to work toward this critical calling, particularly in our own community here in St. Louis. We are here for you.
The university offers the following resources to those who may need help or desire more information:
- Therapy Assistance Online
- Employee Well-Being Support
- Work-Life Solutions (EAP)
- Center for Diversity and Inclusion
- University Diversity Initiatives
- CDI APIDA Solidarity Statement
In addition, you are always welcome to reach out to me directly. You also can contact your academic advisor or Associate Dean Pat Matthews. Please take care of yourselves.
