In 1991, Washington University in St. Louis established the Chancellor’s Graduate Fellowship Program for the purpose of providing academic and generous financial support to outstanding, diverse students interested in careers as college or university professors. To date, the program has over 100 graduates. Over 50 percent work in the academy representing the disciplines of humanities, physical sciences, natural sciences, social sciences, art, business and social work.
As part of its 25th anniversary celebration, the Chancellor’s Graduate Fellowship program in conjunction with the Office of the Provost has created the Chancellor’s Graduate Fellows Alumni Initiative. The aim of the program is to bring these remarkable scholars back to Washington University to share their current work with our academic departments and schools, and also to provide professional development advice to current Chancellor’s Fellows.
Schools or departments interested in bringing Chancellor’s Graduate Fellow Alumni to campus can receive funding support from the Office of the Provost of up to $1,000. Up to five of these CGFAI funds will be available each academic year. Funding support must be requested at least three months prior to the proposed visit. Interested deans and department chairs should contact Sheri Notaro, associate dean and director of the Chancellor’s Graduate Fellowship in the Graduate School, for a list of Chancellor’s Graduate Fellow Alumni in your discipline or field. Once you have identified a potential Chancellor’s Graduate Fellow Alumnus(a) to invite to campus, please complete the application form below.
Before completing this application form please make sure you have the following information:
- Support letter from director of Chancellor’s Graduate Fellowship Program confirming proposed alumnus (a) and dates
- Support letter from your dean/department chair
- CV of Chancellor’s Graduate Fellow Alumnus (a)
