Jason Chu is a Chinese American rapper, poet, and educator. He’s performed at the Obama White House, has had music heard on Netflix and Cinemax/HBO, and been covered by the BBC, the South China Morning Post, and eater.com.
AMC is excited to work with Jason Chu, bringing him and his knowledge to WashU for talks on issues such as diversity, equity, Asian American Identity, and allyship amongst marginalized communities. In two workshops, “Myths + Misconceptions: The Erased Reality of Asian America” and “Songs from Our Skin: Creating art in our bodies”, we hope this event can spark conversation around the topics that are more important now than ever.
This event is important for not just the clubs affiliated with AMC, but to all the students who have witnessed the events of this year. We hope to give a sense of solidarity through this collaboration in these times of isolation.
