The Washington University Libraries is pleased to present a special free screening of Tell Them We Are Rising: The Story of Black Colleges and Universities as part of the St. Louis International Film Festival this Friday, November 3 at 7:30pm in Washington University’s Brown Hall. The film, which premiered at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival this year, explores the importance and cultural impact of HBCUs over the past 150 years. We will have the film’s co-director, Marco Williams, in attendance for a post-film Q&A.

The screening is part of the Washington University Libraries’ ongoing Henry Hampton Film Series, which focuses on new and historically significant social justice documentaries and films that emphasize aspects of African American history. The screening is also co-sponsored by the Department of African & African American Studies at Washington University.
