Join Dr. Michelle A. Purdy, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Education and Director of Undergraduate Educational Studies at Washington University in St. Louis for a book signing in Olin Library on Oct. 3.

Dr. Purdy is the co-editor of Using Past as Prologue:Contemporary Perspectives on African American Educational Historyand the author of Transforming the Elite: Black Students and the Desegregation of Private Schools coming out September 24th.

Transforming the Elite: Black Students and the Desegregation of Private School focuses on the experiences of the first black students to desegregate Atlanta’s well-known Westminster Schools and national efforts to diversify private schools. In Transforming the Elite: Black Students and the Desegregation of Private School Michelle A. Purdy combines social history with policy analysis in a dynamic narrative that expertly re-creates this overlooked history.
