  • Tuesday, January 19, 2021 • 11:30 am
  • Virtual Event

This event is a shared effort by the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Office of Diversity Programs. Congresswoman Cori Bush will discuss her inspiration and journey as an activist. A panel discussion will follow of activists in our community, who will discuss their work.

Congresswoman Cori Bush represents Missouri’s First Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. She is a registered nurse, single mother and an ordained pastor. Following the murder of Michael Brown Jr. by a now-terminated Ferguson police officer, she became a civil rights activist and community organizer fighting for justice for Black lives on the streets of Missouri and across the country. She is the first Black woman and first nurse to represent Missouri; the first woman to represent Missouri’s First Congressional District; and the first activist from the movement fighting for Black lives to serve in the U.S. Congress.
