The Performing Arts Department is pleased to invite you to our upcoming Inaugural MFA Dance Concert: Common Ground, this Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. With artistic direction by Christine Knoblauch-O’Neal, Professor of Practice in Dance, and Director of Graduate Studies, MFA Program in Dance. This concert represents the final component of the MFA in Dance Program for the inaugural class of 2018: Heather Beal, Samantha Gaitsch, and Mariko Kumanomido. Each section of the concert showcases the choreography of one of the MFA students. The three sections merge to form an evening of thought-provoking dance works.
“Common Ground” represents the unique work of our first cohort of three as they explore interesting and current issues as shaped through the body, through social injustice, and through the metaphor that is nature. The overarching goal of the MFA in Dance Program is to develop each student’s personal artistic practice while encouraging a global perspective on dance studies, performance, pedagogy and choreography.
Common Ground premieres Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 8 p.m. in the Edison Theatre, Mallinckrodt Center main level. This event is free and open to the public.
