The Association of Latin American Students presents DACA Week:
DACA Week was created to inform the WashU community and raise awareness of those who are directly and indirectly affected by the decision of the Trump Administration to rescind DACA. We have planned our DACA Week to be from September 18th through September 22nd in which we will have panelists and speakers to inform the public about DACA, activities to facilitate community activism and involvement, and opportunities to learn more about DACA. We hope to make this a long-term project of awareness and action until Congress takes action.
Call to action: Make your voice heard! ALAS will be tabling at the DUC from 11am-2pm hosting a call in, helping you look up and call your state reps and senators to let them know that they need to support DACA and any bipartisan DREAM act bills. We’ll also be giving out ribbons so students can show solidarity with DREAMers on campus. If you missed the first information session, we will have another one tonight at 6PM in the Gargoyle and the speaker will be Romance Language department professor Virginia Braxs.
