Common Reading Program Lecture: Nick Dear in conversation with Henry Schvey and Rebecca Messbarger
So you think you know the “Frankenstein” story? If you haven’t read Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel, you’re in for a surprise. The playwright Nick Dear, who faithfully recreated the story for the London stage, crosses the pond to guide us in an exploration of the rich and complex dystopian tapestry the teen-aged Shelley wrote 200 years ago. You’ll be surprised that many issues of her day are still with us.
