Ageism in America: How Stereotypes Influence Our Health and Wellbeing

The Harvey A. Friedman Center for Aging is hosting the 18th Annual Friedman Lecture & Awards. Keynote speaker, Becca Levy, PhD, will discuss her research on psychosocial factors that influence older individuals’ cognitive and physical functioning, as well as their longevity. Levy is credited with creating a field of study that focuses on how positive and negative age stereotypes, which are assimilated from culture, can have beneficial and adverse effects on the health of older individuals.
