Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration: The Annual Celebration

The Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration is an annual celebration honoring the legacy of Dr. King and the impact he has made on those who carry the torch for humanity. Washington University in St. Louis has hosted this event for over 20 years through an alliance of dedicated faculty, staff and students representing various departments, offices and organizations, in an effort to keep the dream alive.

  • Nominate someone for the Rosa L. Parks Award.
  • Nominate a faculty speaker for the MLK Commemoration Celebration.
  • Nominate a WUSTL student organization to receive the MLK Commemoration Grant.

Graham Chapel, the site for the celebration, creates an appropriate ambiance with its great acoustics, beautiful stained windows and cathedral architecture. Historically, the Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration has featured dramatizations, dance, music, literary work, keynote speakers, testimonies and multimedia presentations.

Rosa L. Parks Award

The Rosa L. Parks Award is given to persons and/or organizations that exemplify the valor of both Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa L. Parks.
